Seniors: Temple

Kristen Marris
Kristen Marris: the Owls may have only had one senior on their team, but no one player meant more to her squad than Marris did. Marris led the Owls in the circle, pitching almost every single game at the end of the year, while also setting the tone for Temple at the top of its batting order. Marris came to Temple after starting her career and she has helped set the tone for the new era of Temple softball from the moment she stepped on the diamond as an Owl. Marris is one of the most athletic players that the Atlantic 10 has ever seen, as she could hit for average, power, use her short game, pitch, and she was excellent outfielder when she wasn't in the circle as well. Marris really came on strong at the end of her junior season for Temple and she saw a lot of work at the end of the year while some other Temple pitchers dealt with injuries. At the plate, Marris led Temple from the leadoff spot and she hit .290 while also leading the Owls in steal. Marris closed out 2010 in a strong manner finishing with an eight game hit streak, which included games against UMass and St. Joseph's. In her senior season, Marris really elevated her game to another level, improving her numbers both at the plate and in the field. Marris has gotten it done at the plate this year, hitting .333 at the plate for one of the top offenses in the conference. In the circle, Marris really elevated her game to another level going 16-12 with a 2.71 ERA and 141 SO in 191.1 IP. Marris really stepped it up in conference play, going 11-3 with a 1.98 ERA and 88 SO in 102.2 IP. Marris gave it her all and led the Owls to its 1st Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance since 2007. Marris has left her mark on the Temple program and she is going to be missed moving forward.
