Charlotte lost to South Carolina 6-0. The 49ers sent Katy Hackett out in the circle, but it would not be enough against a rejuvenated South Carolina squad. The Gamecocks had a solid day at the plate and in circle and the outcome of the game was never really in doubt. Tenaya Tucker picked up another hit at the plate and she extended her hitting streak to 9 games. However, 4 hits will not be enough for Charlotte to beat South Carolina or any other quality teams. Katy Hackett was okay in the circle, but South Carolina was all over her making her work very hard in her 7 innings.

Fordham beat #11 Texas 2-1. The Rams finally got two things that they had been missing this year: a complete game by Jen Mineau and a HR. Fordham knocked off a very tough Texas squad that was undefeated until last night. Nicole Callahan was stellar at the plate going 2-3 against Texas freshman pitcher Rachel Fox, but the big hit of the game came in the bottom of the 7th inning when Gabby Luety hit a walk off HR. The Rams had been suffering from a power outage this year so it was nice to see them finally send one deep. Fordham still has some issues on offense, but they are moving in the right direction.
Fordham takes a tough luck loss to #7 Washington 2-0. The Rams almost beat two undefeated teams in one night, but they could not get anything going against Washington's pitching. The worst part about it is that they wasted another outstanding pitching performance by Chelsea Plimpton, this time against one of the top run scoring squads in the nation this year. Washington's pitching is not incredibly tough, so it is a bit disappointing that Fordham couldn't get at least one run on the board. It could be a long season for the Rams if they are not able to put runs on the board, especially when they get great pitching performances.
Once again Chelsea Plimpton pitched a great game, but her team can't buy a run.
