Recruiting Update

George Washington picked up a big verbal this week in Meghan Rico, a 2012 pitcher from Massachusetts. Rico won the Massachusetts Division 1 High School Championship last year over potential A10 recruit Shannon Smith. Rico goes to King Phillip HS, which has sent Maggie Quealy to UMass and her current teammates Anna Kelley and Olivia Godin will be headed to Amherst as well. Another high school teammate of Rico's is also headed to a Division 1 school as Tori Constantin has verballed to Central Connecticut State.

Rico brings the ball with some good velocity and she has been a very successful pitcher for the RI Thunder Gold travel team. In the fall, Rico finished with a 1.08 ERA and 168 SO in 97.2 IP. Rico and her high school squad are currently ranked 1st in ESPN Boston's High School rankings.

Coach Schramm picked a big time recruit and it is exciting to see the direction that she is taking this program in.
