The Atlantic 10 and NCAA RPI V

Well I skipped a week, but here is the latest update and possibly one of the most important in terms of postseason implications

41. Fordham
52. UMass
98. St. Joseph's
130. Temple
132. St. Louis
162. Charlotte
186. Dayton
230. George Washington
245. St. Bonaventure
268. Rhode Island
275. La Salle

Fordham is going to receive an at-large bid unless something really surprising happens down in Charlotte and even then the Rams have an outstanding resume. Fordham has solidified its chances by winning the regular season title in the Atlantic 10. Fordham is the favorite going into the A10 tournament and they are hopeful that they will not have to wait out an at-large bid. UMass on the other hand is in a much more precarious situation. The Minutewomen are right on the cusp of the bubble, but their RPI has been dragged down because of two games vs. La Salle and it will likely again after facing Rhode Island. Rhode Island and La Salle have really hurt the RPI of Fordham as well, as the Rams dropped in the RPI despite winning all of their games on the week. There is no reason that the A10 should have one, let alone two teams in the bottom 25 RPI in the NCAA tournament. These programs need to figure it out because they are not doing themselves or the conference any good right now. George Washington has found a way to turn it around this year and it would be nice to see La Salle and Rhode Island do the same. St. Joseph's has once again entered the top 100 and I think it really shows how this program keeps improving. If the Hawks take their schedule to the level of UMass' or Fordham's it would not surprise me if they were in the mix for an at-large in a year.
