UMass and Fordham receive votes in both preseason polls

UMass and Fordham have both received votes in the preseason polls released by USA Softball/ESPN.com and USA Today/NFCA.

In the USA Today/NFCA poll, defending national champion Arizona State was the unanimous #1 and UMass received two votes and Fordham received one vote. Atlantic 10 schools will face 5 teams in the top 10 and countless others in the top 25 and among the team receiving votes.

The USA Softball/ESPN.com poll was a little less generous, as UMass dropped down to one vote and Fordham picked up one vote.

This will not be the last time the Atlantic 10 teams receive votes and we will even go out on limb and say that the Atlantic 10 will see at least one if not multiple ranked teams this season.

  1. Great news for the A-10! According to the NFCA website the A10 committee voting member position is vacant, so these votes came from a voting member from another conference. Does anybody know if the A10 is represented and that maybe NFCA didn't update the site? It is not good moving forward if our conference has no representation in the NFCA. The conference picks should be out today?

  2. Coach Gleason from UMASS is the NFCA Vice President. Not sure if she has a vote. I am predicting both UMASS and Fordham to break into the Top 25 by mid-season. The conference is definitely getting stronger.
