Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Preview: Lauren Nacke

Lauren Nacke
We will start with our player of the year preview by looking at Lauren Nacke of Dayton.

Nacke is coming off of an absolutely dominant performance in 2011, which saw her hit .403 with 54 hits, 18 HR, and 48 RBI. She helped lead Dayton to its first Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance since 2000. Nacke led a resurgent Flyer offense to new heights in 2011, as the Flyers set records in numerous offensive categories.

Dayton finished 2011 strong, winning 9 of its last 11 games before entering the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Flyers showed that they could compete with anyone, knocking off perennial A10 powers Charlotte and Fordham, in addition to regional power Ohio State.

Nacke will once again be at the heart of the Flyers' order in 2012 and opposing pitchers will need to be careful with how they pitch her. Nacke is poised to have another record breaking season and it is worth noting  that she is just 5 HR from breaking the Atlantic 10 career HR mark, currently held by KJ Kelley of UMass.

Nacke is certainly one of the frontrunners for the A10 player of the year award in 2012.

  1. Kayla English is a freshman to look out for this 2012 season. She looked very impressive in the fall
