The Atlantic 10 and Rain

Well the conference standings this year have been closer than ever, but they have been a little skewed by some rainouts. The rainouts have been very prevalent the past couple weeks, which has prompted some fervent discussion around the A10 among everyone that follows the conference.

I am not going to comment on the specifics of the rainouts since I was not at the field, but there are some aspects that need to be changed or made into uniform policies. Some examples of the policies that I would like to see...

1. If it is scheduled to rain on a Friday, the field should be made playable for Sunday. It is really unacceptable to not play games two days after it last rained

2. If rain is in the forecast for Saturday, don't just play a single game on Friday: play a doubleheader.

3. Make sure there is some accountability, don't let teams cancel against teams at the top of the standings only to turn around and play against teams at the bottom of the standings

4. Invest in a tarp

5. Make the effort to get the game in even if it is at a different location

Just an example of everything that is wrong with the current policy (Just looking at the past three years)
UMass, Fordham, and Charlotte have been rained out 13 times

La Salle and Rhode Island have been rained out 0 times

So now that that is all out there, I believe these are the tie breakers that the conference using to determine seeding (of course they are no longer available on the conference site)

If anyone has them please post them in a comment or email  them to atlantic10softball@gmail.com

1. Head to head record
2. Record vs. highest ranked team (down to the the very bottom of the standings if necessary)
3. Coin flip
